Catalog description

This course provides a diverse overview of illicit and licit, or legal, drugs from an ecological perspective. Course topics include theories of substance use disorders; co-occurring disorders; effects of substance use on individuals, families, communities, and society; public policies responding to substance use disorders; and treatment options such as medication management. Students will learn how substances effect the brain, including genetics, epigenetics, drug pharmacology, and cellular and molecular biology. Offered: FA,SP,SU
