Electrocardiogram Practices

Catalog description

This course provides students with the foundational knowledge and hands-on skills necessary to perform electrocardiographic procedures in clinical and healthcare settings. Students will learn cardiac anatomy and physiology, the principles of electrophysiology, proper lead placement, operation of EKG equipment, and interpretation of basic cardiac rhythms. Emphasis is placed on patient preparation, infection control, safety protocols, and accurate documentation. Upon completion, students will be able to perform and record a standard 12-lead EKG and recognize common cardiac dysrhythmias in accordance with professional and ethical standards.
