Catalog description

This course provides students with foundational knowledge of the theory and skill required to safely draw blood. Topics include anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, safety and infection control as well as hands-on training in basic venipuncture and capillary puncture techniques. Students will also learn patient communication, ethical standards, and specimen handling, preparing them for certification exams and roles in the healthcare system. Students will complete 15 successful blood draws on live specimens.
