Catalog description

This course prepares students to deliver safe, compassionate, and effective basic care to patients under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN) or licensed practical nurse (LPN). Emphasis is placed on developing the foundational knowledge, clinical skills, and professional behaviors required of a nursing assistant in diverse healthcare settings. Through a combination of classroom instruction, hands-on laboratory practice, and supervised clinical experience students will learn to support patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), monitor vital signs, implement infection control measures, and communicate effectively as part of a healthcare team. Upon completion of this course, students will be eligible to sit for the state certification examination to become Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs).
