Catalog description

This course is designed for students pursuing a degree in the public health field. Students are introduced to health communication and health literacy concepts which focus on the study and use of communication strategies to inform individual and community decisions that affect health. We will explore a variety of concepts of health literacy and health communication styles which can positively influence outcomes for patients and families. Students will gain information on how to best promote and protect the public's health as well as how to increase an individual's capacity to obtain, process, and comprehend basic health information.
