Catalog description

This course introduces the student to health policy and advocacy within the scope of practice of the Registered Nurse. Students will scrutinize the pivotal role of the registered nurse together with other agencies to shape healthcare policy and strategic planning. Emphasis is on a comprehensive understanding of multifaceted healthcare policy by examining the basic principles of policy and advocacy that encompasses the socio-political and economic dynamics that impact health and healthcare-seeking behaviors. This course will help students demonstrate knowledge, skills, attitudes and motivation for effective political advocacy, activism, and empowerment.
