Catalog description

This course introduces the student to the concept of family-centered care. It focuses on NURS care provided through the childbearing and childrearing stages. Physiological, psychoSOCI and spiritual dimensions of developmental stages of clients and families are explored and community-based resources are emphasized. Students learn to use the NURS process to promote and maintain HLTH, prevent alterations in HLTHcare status and restore clients to previous levels of wellness. Nutrition, pharmacotherapy, client teaching and ethico-legal issues are integrated throughout the course. Clinical experiences are provided in acute and non-acute settings as well as public schools.
