Catalog description

This course provides students with experiences in the care of adults with alterations in HLTH status related to sensorimotor, musculo-skeletal, protective, endocrine, renal and reproductive function. Blood disorders, including human immunodeficiency disease, and burns will also be covered. The focus is on care of adults experiencing disruptions in HLTH status associated with both acute and chronic HLTH conditions. Students learn to apply the NURS process to maintain wellness levels, restore clients to previous levels of wellness and prevent further alterations in HLTH status. Nutrition, pharmacotherapy, client teaching and ethico-legal issues are integrated throughout the course. Clinical experiences are provided in the NURS skills laboratory and in acute care settings. Prerequisite: NUR 110. Offered: F, Sp, Su.
