Having a broad understanding of the historical, philosophical, and sociological foundations of education informs how educators design curricula, adjust instructional strategies, interact with learners, families, and communities, and determine solutions to ethical problems. Students will examine school as a SOCI institution, significant educational innovations, and how each of these informs educating a diverse population in an urban context. Offered: FA. SP, or SU
