Catalog description
This course provides students with a comprehensive overview of professional practice in today's healthcare environment. Emphasis is placed on interprofessional collaboration, ethical decision-making, and clinical reasoning as students analyze case scenarios and explore the roles, responsibilities, and scope of practice across healthcare professions. Through the study of the continuum of care and social determinants of health, students will learn to approach patients as whole individuals and recognize the importance of teamwork in improving outcomes and satisfaction. Using the TeamSTEPPS framework, learners will strengthen communication and teamwork skills essential for effective care delivery. The course also addresses the realities of healthcare practice, including burnout, compassion fatigue, and strategies to promote personal well-being, balance, and long-term professional success.
