Catalog description

This course will lead the student through the concepts, principles, problems, and practices of operations management — an area of management focused on overseeing and designing BUSNs operations in the production of goods and services. Participants will examine best practices for the efficient use of resources to meet customer requirements and related activities including purchases, inventory control, quality control, storage, logistics, and evaluation of processes. Understanding the process that turns inputs (design, material and labor) into outputs (goods/services) is central to effective operations management. Participants will learn strategies for adding value to the process in consort with marketing activities. Prerequisite: or Corequisites: BUS 101 or BUS 107. Offered: F and Sp.
