Family Law and the Human Services

Catalog description

This course examines the role of the court systems in adjudicating family issues encountered by human services professionals. Topics include marriage and divorce, child custody and support, alimony, and domestic violence. Students will become familiar with various legal and extra-legal means of resolving disputes that arise in domestic relations. Prerequisite: CJ 150 Introduction to Criminal Justice; HS 160 Introduction to Human Services, LAW 302 Criminal Law.
