Catalog description

New Technologies in Communication is a course that will increase your knowledge of cutting-edge trends in both business and personal communication. You will learn about the advantages, dangers, and especially success strategies for using Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Blogs, Texting, Data Mashups, Skype, Podcasts, iPhone 3G, Photobucket, and more. You will learn how to write a resume that will get you past the latest ATS (applicant tracking systems), develop a Facebook page that will impress both friends and employers alike, use Flickr videos to communicate with both customers and employees, and blog for fun and profit. This course will serve as an introduction to students less familiar with the latest communication technology, while providing more advanced students with the opportunity to take their skills to the next level. Prerequisite(s): ENG 176, ITG 149
