Catalog description

This course prepares students to analyze, plan, and lead effective disaster response and recovery efforts across a range of natural and manmade disaster scenarios. Topics include the social, economic, and structural factors that shape community resilience and recovery outcomes. Students will develop and communicate recovery plans that integrate mitigation and resource management strategies. This course also emphasizes the practical organization and training of volunteers and private-sector groups, equipping students with the tools to coordinate multiorganizational disaster response efforts effectively. Prerequisite: HSE 300 with a “C” or better.
