Catalog description

This course introduces students to the foundational frameworks that guide coordinated emergency response in the United States, with a focus on the National Incident Management System, Incident Command System, and Emergency Operations Centers. Students will explore the structure, roles, and operational processes that make effective multiagency coordination possible. Through scenario-based exercises, students will apply these concepts to develop practical skills for real-world emergency response. Students will have the opportunity to complete several independent study courses through FEMA’s Emergency Management Institute. Prerequisite: HSE 300 with a “C” or better.
