Catalog description

This course serves as the capstone for the General Criminal Justice concentration and provides a comprehensive examination of criminal justice policy, theory, and practice within their historical, political, and social contexts. Students will analyze the development and evolution of criminal justice policies, exploring how contemporary crime trends shape and influence current legislative and institutional responses. Special attention is given to the interplay between theory and practice, as students examine and compare major theoretical perspectives used to explain the nature, causes, and patterns of crime. This course should be taken during the final term of the student’s degree program. Prerequisites: CRJ 306 and CRJ 405 with a “C” or better.
