Catalog description
This course examines the historical development of law enforcement and its relationship with communities, with emphasis on police and community perceptions, attitudes, and values across cultural, racial, and socioeconomic contexts. Using case studies from throughout American history, students will analyze significant instances of police-community conflict to connect outcomes to contemporary criminal justice theory and practice. Prerequisite: CRJ 100.
