Catalog description

This course is the first course in a sequence intended for science majors. This course is a study of the composition of matter, systematic treatment of atomic structure, stoichiometry, aqueous reactions, the gas laws, thermochemistry, periodicity, molecular geometry, and chemical bonding. Lecture 4.5 hours; Laboratory 1.5 hours. Prerequisites: MAT 109 or MAT 112 or MAT 201 with a “C” or better; RDG 099 or placement.
