Catalog description

This course provides a foundational exploration of marine and estuarine habitats, emphasizing habitat types and biological community diversity. Topics include adaptations to a marine environment, biodiversity of the sea, taxonomy of the major groups of marine organisms, ecosystem types and characteristics, and ocean-scale processes. Students completing this course will gain a general understanding of marine habitats, the organisms that live in them, and the experimental methodologies used to sample and analyze the marine environment. Lecture 4.5 hours; Laboratory 1.5 hours.
