Catalog description

This course provides a comprehensive overview of the scientific principles and methods applied in the criminal justice system. Students will explore the collection, examination, evaluation, and interpretation of physical evidence, with a focus on key forensic techniques, such as DNA analysis, fingerprinting, bloodstain analysis, trace evidence analysis, digital forensics, and crime scene investigation. Through lectures, case studies, and hands-on laboratory work, students will explore the chemical and biological foundations of forensic methods, as well as their capabilities and limitations in real-world investigations. Lecture 4.5 hours; Laboratory 1.5 hours.
