Catalog description

This course will provide students with an understanding of the theories focusing on the behavioral aspects of students with mild disabilities. The course will examine the impact of behavioral problems on academic and social/emotional performance. A specific focus will be placed on inclusive classrooms and managing individuals with disabilities in general education settings. Major trends and issues in the field will be presented. Students will learn about the facets of disordered behaviors that include attention and activity disorders, conduct disorder: overt aggression, conduct disorder: covert antisocial behaviors, juvenile delinquency, anxiety and related disorders, depression and suicidal behaviors, and schizophrenia and persuasive development disorders.
