Catalog description

Immediate effects of radiation exposure may include Acute Radiation Syndrome while delayed health effects may include cancer and genetic mutations. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to (1) solve modern physics concepts of electromagnetic radiation, Compton scattering, and photoelectric effect; (2) describe the radiation response of cells and tissues; (3) explain and justify radiation effects on humans, animals, and the environment; and (4) demonstrate knowledge of radiation safety protocols and standards.
