(2) Credit Hours A physical education course designed to teach basic skills used in the game of golf. Students learn how to apply these basic skills in modified on-the-course game play to solve unique tactical problems found in the game today. Students will develop tactical awareness by understanding preshot decisions and the conditions under which they execute each shot. Additional content will include safety, rules, etiquette and equipment used in the game of golf. An additional fee and student provided transportation will be required. Upon completion of this course, students will: 1) Describe basic concepts & golf equipment used in the game today (clubs, balls, and training aids); 2) Demonstrate a variety of basic short game skills (putting, chipping, pitching, sand shots) and the full golf swing (using irons) during modified on-the-course game play; 3) Solve tactical problems (preshot decisions & shot execution) during modified on-the-course game play; 4) Interpret game play statistics (fairways hit, greens in regulation, number of putts) to identify strengths and weaknesses on the course.
