NURS 4012
Nursing Leadership
Georgia Gwinnett College · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
Concepts related to management and leadership such as prioritization, delegation, supervision, inter and intra-professional communication, informatics, advocacy, emotional intelligence, teamwork, collaboration, decision-making, health policy, workplace violence, and conflict resolution will be explored. Comparisons among organizational structures will be completed while students investigate each structure's impact on planned change and healthcare management and leadership. Students will analyze various leadership theories and apply these theories to various legal/ethical issues and fiscal planning. Students will examine the differences between "caring for" and "caring about" to be effective nurse leaders. This course will not only prepare students to be leaders at the bedside (individual, families), but also prepare them to be nurse leaders locally, nationally, and globally (groups, communities, populations) to transform healthcare.
