Catalog description

Upon completion of this course a student will, (1) explore the utility of mathematics from a historical and cultural perspective including but not limited to the historical content standards recommended by NCTM and CAEP; (2) solve problems of historical significance; (3) develop sensitivity to the diversity of cultures contributing to the development of mathematics and to the unique perspectives of students for groups underrepresented in the mathematical sciences; (4) develop and share curricular materials and teaching strategies to promote knowledge and appreciation for historical and cultural foundations of mathematics; (5) explicitly address the designated NCTM Content Standards.
