Catalog description

Upon completion of this course students will be able to 1) describe the structures and components of an operating system, 2) identify and summarize basic operating system concepts and functions, advantages and issues, 3) explain and examine process management concept, operation, and inter-process communication, 4) compare and illustrate memory management strategies including paging and segmentation, 5) evaluate and examine how file systems are organized including RAID and disk scheduling algorithms, 6) appraise and illustrate principle of I/O hardware and its complexity and understand operating system's I/O subsystems.
