Introduction to Networks

Catalog description

Upon completion of this course students will be able to: (1) understand the basics of data communications and networking; (2) describe the overall network architectures, especially the Internet concepts and terminologies; (3) explain how network hardware and software work together; (4) understand major network protocols (TCP/IP and related protocols); (5) recognize network infrastructure hardware (hub, switch, router, gateway, wireless access and so on); (6) understand network design and operation essentials; (7) acquire basic knowledge of security issues in computer networks.
