Catalog description

Introduction to computers and applications software. Upon completion of this course students will: (1) demonstrate an understanding of the evolution of information technology and future trends; (2) describe the ethical issues surrounding the uses of digital information; (3) demonstrate proficiency in the use of various personal productivity software; (4) demonstrate an understanding of the functionality and interaction among the main hardware components of a computer and appropriate terminology; (5) acquire basic knowledge of computer security, protection mechanisms and privacy threats on Internet; (6) demonstrate an understanding of the role of computing tools in supporting collaborative projects; (7) demonstrate an understanding of the principles of computer networking; (8) demonstrate an understanding of different types of systems and application software.
