Health Promotion Program Planning

Catalog description
Students will learn appropriate skills necessary for planning, implementing, and evaluating health promotion program for a specific priority population. Upon completion of this course, students should be able to: 1) Identify the social, cultural, economic, political, and environmental factors that impact the health behaviors of priority populations, 2) Apply an appropriate planning model in the development of health promotion programs, 3) Develop a health promotion program based on a needs assessment including rationale, goals, objectives, interventions, and appropriate evaluation methods, 4) Identify principles of cultural competency in the implementation of health promotion programs, 5) Create specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time-bound (SMART) communication objectives, 6) Apply professional codes of ethics and ethical principles throughout the needs assessment, research, planning, implementation, and evaluation phases of program development.
