Changing Health Behaviors

Catalog description
Students will learn coping skills for problem solving and learn techniques for developing individual and community-based health behavior change programs. Specifically, students will: 1) Explain and analyze the key components of health behavior theories relevant to health education; 2) Differentiate between individual, group, and community-level health behavior theories; 3) Describe the integration of behavior-change techniques when developing a community-based health program; 4) Demonstrate the use of various learning techniques in developing a new health supporting behavior; 5) Explain the value of lifelong learning and self-improvement regarding ones own health behavior; and 6) Apply constructs of health behavior theories and models to address health inequities across populations.
