Catalog description

Students will read, interpret and write about a variety of prose, poetry and drama written by women. Students will gain deeper insights into women's issues and experiences and the cultures that have influenced them-through engagement with women's literature, questioning and understanding the complexities of identity and text formations. Students will not only consider the element of gender and its implications, but also examine other pertinent issues including class, ethnicity and sexuality and their roles in shaping the texts and our understanding of them.
