Elementary Education Practicum

Catalog description
Candidates will transition from collaborative planning and teaching to full-time teaching responsibility. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate professionalism, and effective use of instructional strategies, as well as provision of a positive and academically challenging learning environment for all students. Candidates will examine student permanent records and live data systems as well as develop, implement and assess the effectiveness of teaching plans for specific students, in conjunction with cooperating teachers at field experience sites. Course Outcomes 1. Infuse technology appropriately into instructional activities. 2. Engage in professional oral and written communication with cooperating teachers, college supervisors, and peers. 3. Develop and maintain a positive and academically challenging classroom learning environment. 4. Demonstrate knowledge of the content they are expected to teach. 5. Plan and Implement a variety of content-appropriate instructional strategies. 6. Engage in ongoing assessment of student learning and modify instruction appropriately. 7. Foster relationships with students, parents, families, colleagues, and the community through interactions that support student learning and well-being. 8. Reflect on their teaching experiences and the teaching process. 9. Adapt to school culture and routines.
