Catalog description

This course focuses on the design and delivery of developmentally appropriate instruction for a wide range of students, including English Language learners. Under the supervision of a qualified mentor teacher and college supervisor, candidates will develop professional knowledge about the curriculum in an elementary classroom. Candidates will also learn to plan and implement developmentally appropriate and culturally inclusive instruction. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate professionalism when interacting with classroom teachers, students, school faculty, and staff. Candidates are also expected to show initiative in the classroom. This course includes 2 days (approximately 16 hours a week) in an elementary school field placement.
