Course Outcome Goals: 1) Recognize the chemical structure of DNA and describe the processes by which mutations occur 2) Explain cell cycle checkpoints, mitosis and meiosis and the role of DNA in these processes. 3) Discuss gene expression and processes that affect it. 4) Identify common inheritance patterns 5) Distinguish body systems as they relate to common disorders and diseases. 6) Analyze the validity of scientific claims. 7) Apply biological concepts to real world situations. 8) Evaluate the relative contribution of society and biology to categories such as race, gender, sexuality, and disability. This course is not eligible for credit towards a Biology degree.
