Catalog description

The objective of this course is to help students design better systems considering the interaction of the system with humans. The course takes a system-level view with a goal of improved system performance, efficiency, and safety, considering the interaction of people, autonomous systems, and technology. The course focuses on human performance characteristics and limitations, including topics such as perception, cognition, decision making, and how artificial intelligence has and will impact humans. It also includes system design and safety issues for addressing these characteristics and limitations, and research and evaluation methods for improving system development.
