The course emphasizes productivity analysis via traditional production and inventory control techniques for operations management. It includes topics in forecasting, inventory control with known (deterministic) and unknown (stochastic) demand, lot sizing, supply chain management, scheduling, Materials Requirement Planning (MRP), just-in-time models, pull control systems and aggregate planning. Production planning is the planning of production and manufacturing modules that consists of scheduling and resource allocation of workforce, materials and production capacity.
