Introduction to the history, theory, analysis, and practice of Spanish-English and English-Spanish translation. Includes literal versus free translation; denotation and connotation; regional and social variation; intercultural pragmatic differences; interlanguage influence and calques; and genre and audience. Hands-on experience with literary works, newspaper articles, and advertisements, as well as legal, medical, and technical documents. Offered by Modern & Classical Languages .
