Community Practice Across the Life Course. 3 credits

Catalog description

Examines the role of environmental factors including poverty, income inequality, political oppression and traumatic events as factors influencing what is commonly called “psychopathology.” Stages of life course development are examined in this course from conception to late adulthood. The course’s primary focus is understanding the interactions between cultural and structural processes, and their influence on how clients and client systems live and adapt. In keeping with the social justice imperative of the profession, students will critically analyze the environmental and structural forces that impinge or enhance human development.
