Addresses the underlying causes and reasons for the growth of these phenomena and their far-reaching and diverse social, political and economic consequences globally. Transnational crime dimensions of the problem are a central component of the class including the human rights costs of this crime. The role of technology including online platforms and social media in its proliferation are discussed.
