Catalog description

This seminar will provide the tool-kit for students to achieve a critical understanding of the legal, regulatory, and policy debate around the global financial markets. The seminar has two aims: 1) to analyze the principles and rationales of financial regulation; and 2) to survey the primary transactions, institutions, and regulatory regimes that characterize the modern global financial markets. While focused on the international financial regulatory framework, the main reference jurisdiction is the United State, with a secondary focus on the European Union and the United Kingdom. The final grade in the seminar is based primarily on a major research paper.Offered by Law. May not be repeated for credit.
