Catalog description

This course offers an introduction to comparative legal systems. The course will survey the two main legal families, civil and common law. It will also look briefly at mixed legal systems. The second part of the course looks at specific areas of the law from a comparative perspective, in particular at comparative judicial politics. The final part of the course looks at recent developments in comparative law and economics, particularly the legal origins literature and the controversial relationship between law and development.Offered by Law. May not be repeated for credit.
