This course provides an overview of power grid digitization and covers IEC 61850 based substation automation systems from the real-world application perspective. Topics include substation equipment, functions, interfaces, and communication technology; IEC 61850 scope, protocol and configuration technology; IEC 61850 modeling approach, process bus, substation model; overview of synchrophasors; Substation Configuration Language; application software and cyber security considerations.
