This is an introductory course in machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) that is intended for students who are interested in learning about ML and AI presented from an engineering perspective. The course will introduce the student to many of the current state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms and the use of AI in modern applications without going deep into the mathematics. The topics that will be covered include classification, regression, reinforcement learning, and key results from statistical learning theory. Applications include image classification, face recognition, object detection, natural language processing, speech recognition, and computer vision. The course introduces the student to the important software libraries, including ScikitLearn, Tensorflow, NLTK, and OpenCV. Knowledge of Python is required. Offered by Electrical & Comp.
