This project-oriented course delves into advanced principles and security problems governing the design and implementation of modern Operating Systems. Topics include advanced topics and open issues in virtual memory, kernel and user mode, system calls, threads, context switches, interrupts, interprocess communication, concurrency, processes and multi-threading, context switching, synchronization, scheduling, deadlock, memory management, dynamic memory allocation, and address translation. This course is offered to doctoral-level students who will master advanced OS concepts and security problems through a semester-long research project. Offered by Cyber Security Engineering . May not be repeated for credit.
