Catalog description

This course provides a foundation in UAS detection, countermeasures, and protective methods against them. The course explores (1) the air and ground UAS components, (2) how these components can be detected by active and passive systems, (3) how these systems can be affected by electronic and cyberattacks, and (4) how to protect UAS against detection, as well as electronic and cyberattacks. The operational environment, such as obstacles, terrain, and atmosphere, and the effects of radio propagation, are also studied. Active and passive systems cover RADAR, LADAR, RF, IR, optical, and acoustic sensors. Countermeasures include techniques for disrupting UAS operations, such as electronic and cyberattacks. Protective measures involve stealth concepts, antenna radiation control, and cybersecurity. Finally, this course brings a holistic view of UAS applications, security, and future trends.
