A skill development course connecting dispute resolution theory and practice to the mediation process through lectures, discussion. self-reflection, experiential learning, and role-plays. Along with consideration of foundational principles of mediation practice, the course covers a range of mediation traditions, including: facilitative mediation, evaluative mediation, transformative mediation, narrative mediation, etc. Along with understanding the mediation process, students will explore the impact on mediation of culture, power, race, gender and other contextual factors that challenge contemporary mediators.
