This course offers a grounding in diverse approaches to engaging conflict with an emphasis on strengthening students’ skills alongside their understanding of how conflict theory is both framed and is generated from practice. The course will include experiential opportunities to plan and execute dialogues and use conflict analyses to ground the design of conflict resolution and peacebuilding approaches. It will introduce students to a broad range of practice modalities that may include narrative conflict resolution, mediation, negotiation, problem-solving, peacebuilding across lines of identity and political polarization, reconciliation, memory work, social healing, social movements, activism, community organizing, arts-based peacebuilding, and more.
