Students build skills in perspective taking, critical thinking, and dialogue as they actively explore complex and contentious issues. This course focuses on exploring alternate perspectives, while developing the skills and tools necessary to acquire and interpret information and engage in constructive dialogue with individuals holding a variety of opinions. The study of current events in the classroom provides a vehicle for students to practice identifying relevant information, analyzing opposing views, forming opinions, supporting dialogue, and expressing themselves clearly.
