Introduces different aspects of Chinese language, e.g., pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary. Combining theories of Chinese linguistics and pedagogical applications, explore issues, contexts and approaches to Chinese teaching and material design. Examine the inter-relationships among theories of language learning, Chinese linguistics, and contexts of teaching settings. Provide students or pre-service teachers with opportunity to engage in a semester-long project, tailored to a teaching setting of the students’ choice, which highlights selected issues in teaching and curriculum planning.
