Applies inorganic coordination chemistry and physical methods to understand structure and function of metal ion sites in biomolecules. Biochemical roles of metal centers in oxygen transport, metalloenzymes, and electron transfer. Topics include iron cytochromes, zinc and copper enzymes, cobalamins, iron sulfur proteins, inorganic model compounds, and metals in medicine. Inorganic core course. Offered by Chemistry .
